POSITION SUMMARY
The Nuclear Pharmacy Technician supports the preparation, compounding, dispensing, and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals used in PET imaging procedures. This individual works under the supervision of a licensed nuclear pharmacist and ensures compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards while operating in a time-sensitive, high-stakes environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Radiochemistry Production
• Primary responsible for the daily production of PET radiopharmaceuticals.
• Primarily responsible for ordering, receiving, and testing of chemicals, and supplies needed for production
and distribution of PET radiopharmaceuticals.
• First-Line maintenance of chemistry modules.
Pharmaceutical Preparation
• Assist in the compounding and dispensing of PET radiopharmaceuticals according to USP standards.
• Accurately measure and dispense radioactive doses under pharmacist supervision using specialized automated dispensing systems.
• Perform routine quality control testing on radiopharmaceuticals.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment such as dose calibrators, radiation detectors, and gas chromatographs.
• Adhere to ALARA principles and institutional radiation safety protocols.
• Wear dosimetry badges and follow personal protective measures during handling and transportation of radioactive materials.
• Monitor and manage inventory of radiopharmaceuticals, reagents, and disposables.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of compounding, QC testing, inventory, and waste disposal in compliance with FDA, NRC, DOT, DEQ, CGMP, pharmacy regulations, and standard operating procedures.
• Package and label radioactive doses for patient administration or external delivery.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Pharmaceutical Tech license required. Pharmacy Experience required. Aseptic Processing Training preferred. Chemistry courses and training are preferred. *** This is a 2:30 AM - 11:00 AM Work Schedule. ***
